Though the harshness of summer is over for this year, the chances of skin damage due to the harmful UVA and UVB rays of the sun is not reduced. That means the need for sun protection is still remaining in the priority list if you do not want tanning, pigmentation, blemishes and premature aging! Instead of layering up my skin with a body moisturizer and a sunscreen, I am always in favor of body lotions with sufficient SPF. Today I am reviewing one such product, Lotus Herbals UV-Protect Body Lotion SPF 25 PA+++ with Calendula Extracts. This product has been designed for normal to dry skin and in winter everybody faces dry skin related issues. Naturally, this heavy body lotion ended up in my winter skincare cart. What is it?

Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV-Protect Body Lotion SPF 25 PA+++ enhances body’s sun protection. Composed of Calendula extracts and UV filters along with Vitamin B3 and E this whitening milk nourishes and moisturizes your skin. It removes dull surface cells, rejuvenates your skin and protects it from harmful solar UVB and UVA radiations. This is an ultra-soothing formulation that gets absorbed in the skin quickly. This lotion also controls excess oil and gives you a non-greasy look. It protects your skin from drooping and acts as an anti-wrinkle expert. It is clinically approved and tested by dermatologists to be mild on skin.

My Experience with Lotus Herbals UV-Protect Body Lotion SPF 25 PA+++ with Calendula Extracts

Packaging- This high SPF body lotion comes in a tall plastic pump bottle. The pump mechanism has lock technology to prevent any product spillage in transit if you are carrying it to somewhere. As usual, the front side of the bottle holds the product name and label graphics while the backside mentions the claims, ingredient list etc. This body lotion is available in an only 250ml pump bottle so the lotion bottle is a bit heavy and not very travel-friendly. However, it is a hygienic packaging since the product inside the bottle does not come in direct contact with external contaminants.

Colour & Texture- It is a pure white colored dense body lotion; the consistency is almost like a cream. It gets spread easily and does not leave annoying whitish cast behind. Like any other body lotion, it needs to be massaged into the skin. It gets absorbed quickly and provides essential moisture to my skin.

Fragrance- This lotion has a very light lily and calendula smell. I have used another Calendula Extract enriched body lotion from Dove (Dove’s Invigorating Ritual). These two lotions have similarity in their fragrance notes. The smell is not very strong or long staying.

Experience- I use this body lotion in those days when my skin will be exposed to sun moderately. Since this is a product with SPF of 25, I do not use it for longer sun exposure. My skin gets irritated very easily if exposed to harsh sunray. Sunscreens that actually work prevent that burning sensation. This lotion, no doubt, is effective as it is able to do so. Plus, it keeps my skin moisturized for 4-5 hours which is also good for windy winter days. It did not give me body acne. I do not have a tan so I am not the best one to tell how it will fade the tan. But, it does not my skin vulnerable to tanning. The formula is free from avobenzone.

Lotus Herbals UV-Protect Body Lotion SPF 25 PA+++ with Calendula Extracts is a good 2-in-1 product that moisturizes the skin and provides sun protection. I will certainly buy it again in next winter. This one comes in another variant of oily skin which is best for summer. So, every skin type has some solutions in this range of SPF added body lotion.
