Threading or Waxing for Face- Which is Better ? Hair looks great on your head but not on any other part of the body, especially when it comes to face. Everybody wants to get rid of them and it is like a monthly task for all the ladies to get their eyebrows and upper lips done though it is a very tough and painful task. So, many ladies wonder what to choose among waxing or threading so that it will hurt less and is effective more.
First, let us see what threading and waxing is and how they work-
Threading is a hair removal method in which unwanted hair is plucked out by using a twisted cotton or polyester thread. The thread is first doubled and then twisted. It is then rolled over areas of unwanted hair resulting in plucking the hair at the follicle level.
Waxing is another hair removal method in which hair are removed from the root by using a covering of a sticky substance, commonly known as was, to stick to body hair, and then removing this covering and pulling out the hair from the follicle.
Threading is way cheaper than waxing as in threading you just need a thread but for waxing, you need sticky substance i.e. wax and strips to remove it.
This is to be understood that both waxing and threading are temporary methods of hair removal and not the permanent one. Though, both of them will last longer than shaving but hair will start growing in a week or two according to your hair growth. In some cases, it takes a month also as it all depends on different body types and their growing power.
Also for the next time you thread or wax, there should be a certain length of your regrown hair i.e. for threading, hair should be between 1/8” to ¼” whereas for waxing they should be at least ¼” of length.
The Time consumed in waxing and threading varies according to how big or small the area is. For eg. Waxing a large area such as upper lips, is less time consuming than threading that area as threading removes hair in rows of line whereas threading includes a large patch all at once and on upper lips, you do not need to give any kind of shape or something.
But when we talk about a smaller area such as eyebrow you need to be very careful with wax but with the thread, you can easily remove unwanted hair and give it a perfect shape.
The most important factor to choose between both is the amount of pain you will feel in both of these methods. Waxing involves removing a lot of hair all at once i.e. for 30-40 hair you have to face pain only once but threading involves removing hair one by one so you have to, again and again, feel the same pain and believe me it hurts very much.
Waxing is a little bit messy method as more preparation and clean-up is required in waxing whereas there is no mess in threading, you just need a thread and that’s it.
So by seeing all the above points, we can conclude that threading your eyebrows is better than waxing as it has a very small area and all your eyebrow can go at once so better get threading done. Whereas, On your upper lips waxing will hurt less so wax your upper lips but only with cold wax as hot wax can irritate your skin out there. But in the end, it depends all on you what you want to try and what suits your skin better.
