Home Remedies for Bloating Stomach: Water Retention also knew as edema and is actually the accumulation of excessive fluid in your body due to several reasons. It can be uncomfortable and painful.

Edema may lead to high blood pressure and stiff joint. Reasons for water retention can be the intake of excessive salt, physical inactivity, vitamin deficiencies. Water retention can also occur due to internal factors such as thyroid issues, high blood pressure, liver disorders, etc.

Here are 10 Home Remedies to reduce bloating /water retention

  1. Parsley

Parsley is the most helpful remedy to reduce water retention.

Take a few dried parsley and add it to the boiling water. Drink it thrice a day for better results.

Cranberry is high in calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

Cranberry juice accelerates the production of urine in an organism.

You should drink cranberry juice daily for better results.

  1. Onion

Onion purifies our blood and stimulates urine production, thus preventing kidney stones.

For water retention, boil some pieces of onion in water, cool it down, add some salt to taste and drink it twice a day.

  1. Fennel seeds

Fennel seeds also help in the production of urine in our body and thus support the kidney to process sodium and water. It prevents toxic building and helps in proper digestion.

Add some fennel seeds to the boiling water and get it boiled. Cool it down and drink it twice a day.

  1. Lemon juice

Lemon juice eliminates the accumulated waste and excessive fluids from our body.

Add some lemon juice in warm water and you can add some honey for sweetening. Have this remedy daily for useful results.

  1. Essential oils

Essential oils can help in reducing water retention. Aromatherapy stimulates the drainage of fluid by triggering the lymphatic system. Add 15 20 drops of essential oils to hot water and soak your feet for 20 25 minutes. You will feel relaxed and calm.

  1. Minimize the intake of salt

Excessive intake of salt that is sodium may cause excessive fluid retention in the body tissues. Hence, avoid food with a high amount of salt.

  1. Drink more water

Water is good for dehydration. If you dehydrate, your body will accumulate excess fluid which is not good for water retention. Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily.

  1. Take adequate amounts of magnesium

Add foods containing magnesium in your daily diet as it helps in curing the water retention. The suggested dose of magnesium is 200-400 mg daily.

  1. Eat Yogurt

Yogurt is rich in potassium and protein. Since one of the main cause of water retention is the lack of protein, having yogurt in your diet will help in reducing water retention.
