My Experience With Sugar Amethyst Twist Lipstick
Packaging
If you are one of the people who like simple and sophisticated packaging like me, you will love this. From the transparent tube bottles to the really good quality wide applicator attached to the cap, SUGAR gets an A+ for packaging like always. The cap has the sugar logo and the shade name is written under the tube.
Shade
Amethyst twist is a metallic brown and maroon mix shade. Even though it is a metallic shade as you can see in the swatch, it does not really scream metallic when you apply it to lips and definitely does not show in pictures much. This shade is suitable for night time and can even be applied in the daytime if you like doing darker looks.
Pigmentation and texture
This particular shade compared to other shades of SUGAR seems a little different. It could be because of the difference in formula and color. The texture is not as light, it’s a little heavy on the lips and fries out really quick. The formula is really pigmented. You can’t make any mistakes applying it the first time because applying a second layer is a very bad idea with this lipstick. It is matte and has a powdery finish.
Fragrance
It doesn’t really have a scent but if you smell really closely it has a lil chemically smell. It’s not pungent.
My experience
I like this shade personally because I love darker shades and I go for looks that include shades that are leaning towards black. This shade is perfect that way because even though it is not black it has a shade of black in it. And if applied a thick layer, it does look like black at night. The metallic side of the lipstick is not that visible in daylight. It can’t be reapplied and even though it doesn’t smudge, it does break of a little if you don’t pay attention while eating and drinking. The formula is not the most starter friendly because it dries really quickly but it will make me look very confident and bold.

Yes, if you are someone who is comfortable with or is wanting to venture into the darker shades of lipsticks. I would love to repurchase the product if the brand comes up with a little more lighter formula which doesn’t make my lips feel a little heavy but yeah I would definitely love to buy it again.
