So recently, I was rummaging through my sisters makeup drawer and I chanced upon a Smashbox product. I was obviously very excited as I hadn’t used anything from the brand. The store opened up in Mumbai a couple of months ago, but I haven’t gone in there as yet. So I grabbed the opportunity and asked her if I could use it for a while before returning it. And of course, she said yes. So after using Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick After Dark A couple of times…here’s what I think of this Smashbox Liquid Lipstick…

My Experience with the Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Lacquer- After Dark

The After Dark lip lacquer comes in a cardboard casing which has the logo and all the necessary details about the product. The product comes in a short plastic transparent rectangular lip gloss tube with black detailing, which allows you to see the shade. It has a matte black cap. The applicator is flat with an hourglass shape to it. Overall, the packaging is quite good.

After Dark is a dark plum with a glossy finish to it. Like most other dark shades, this one too sort of sits patchy. It takes a bit of trouble to smooth out the color so it looks even on the lips. However, I really like the shade of the product. The formulation of the product though is extremely lightweight. And although it is glossy, it isn’t sticky.  It feels good on the lips, very moisturizing.  The brand claims that the product lasts for about 8 hours, but sadly, that’s not the truth. The glossy effect settles down into a stain after a while. But, to settle down it takes quite a while and also the lip stain barely lasts for a maximum of two hours. Also, it product transfers, which is a bit of a negative. As for the pigmentation, I’m not too happy as it takes quite a lot of swipes for the color to actually show.

In terms of pricing, it is a little high. If it was a really long lasting product, I wouldn’t mind paying the amount.

• Not long lasting
• Not transfer resistant
• Weak pigmentation

Would I repurchase and recommend?

I wouldn’t repurchase this particular product as I prefer using long lasting products. And it didn’t do much for me. But, If you’re okay with the product lasting for just about 2-3 hours and you don’t mind spending, you can go for it.
