 MAC Chatterbox Lipstick Review: When I started learning makeup professionally about three years ago, my first lipsticks that I picked up were obviously from MAC! I had heard so much about MAC products and how their lipstick was the best. And I couldn’t wait to try them. So I picked up three shades and one of them was Chatter Box- a pink lipstick.

I’m not too sure about how it was priced when I purchased it. But the current price is INR 1500

My experience with MAC Chatter Box Lipstick

When I got my first MAC lipsticks, like most makeup junkies I was too excited and couldn’t wait to use them. The brand says that it’s a bright pink- red; however, it’s more like a Barbie pink with a cool tone.  And honestly, I’ve never been a fan of pink, but being a MAC product I just had to try it. And when I swatched it, it was a very pretty shade Sadly though, I was left disappointed as the shade didn’t suit my skin tone. The shade is best suited for light to medium tones and is great for day wear. However, though, it can be worn on dusky skin too but you need to be able to carry it off. On some skin tones, it may give you a washed out look. I’ve used it on a whole lot of clients and it looks lovely. I’ve even used it on brides and for photo shoots too and the results have been lovely.

The lipstick has a creamy texture to it and so it lasts for just a few hours. Reapplication might be needed to post a meal. Since it is an amplified crème lipstick, the application is easy as it glides on smoothly. After about an hour of application, it settles into a matte.  A good thing about it is that it doesn’t smudge or feel dry on the lips. If you have extremely dry or chapped lips though, you need to be careful and make sure that you exfoliate before application or else it will accentuate fine lines and may look patchy. Also, you need to be careful as too many coats will result in a patchy look. Application of the lipstick needs to be very even. Like most MAC lipsticks, this one too has a vanilla fragrance. You can only get the fragrance if you sniff directly at the bullet.

Like all other MAC lipsticks, the packaging is a black casing which is quite sturdy.

MAC Chatterbox Lipstick shade is very close to that of NYX’s Fig. The texture is what sets them both apart.

Positives

1. Doesn’t suit dark skin tones
2. Looks patchy sometimes
3. Doesn’t last for too long
4. Reapplication post meal is needed

Would I repurchase and recommend?

I would definitely recommend for light skin tones if it’s within the budget. As for repurchasing, although it’s a good product, I’m not too sure as it doesn’t suit me too well. In terms of using it professionally, I will look for a similar shade in different brands. If I don’t get a similar shade, I will come back to Chatter Box.
