Product Purchased by Glossypolish. Neutral and grey-toned lip colors with powder matte, demi-matte or creamy matte formula are reigning the lip makeup world currently. These days I am obsessed with warm and neutral pinks of different intensities. My makeup stash now contains different shades of fuchsia, purple and dusky pinks. Well, these days my pinky baby is NYX Istanbul  Soft Matte Lip Cream which was recently gifted to me by the GlossyPolish Team. Here are my thoughts about this amazing lip cream.

What is it?

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream is neither lipstick nor lip gloss, this matte lip cream is a new kind of lip color that goes on silky smooth and sets to a matte finish.

My Experience with NYX Istanbul  Soft Matte Lip Cream

Packaging- This lip cream comes in a sleek cylindrical plastic tube with the black velvety matte screw lid. The body of the lip cream tube is color-coded according to the shade inside. For my shade, the packaging is neutral pink in color. The packaging looks classy and elegant. It is very travel-friendly and leakage proof. The complete ingredient list is mentioned in the packaging.

Shade- NYX Istanbul is a cool toned neutral pink. The shade looks baby pink in my hand swatches but on the lips, it is a lot more neutral and blends with my natural lip color. This particular shade is likely to be the MLBB shade for lighter complexion people with cool undertones. But, on my yellow undertoned skin, it is a neutral matte shade of light pink.

Texture- Texture wise this lip product is true to its name ‘lip cream’ because its consistency is thick and creamy. Its creamy texture makes the application quite easy and effortless. It gets spread easily and settles down into matte in about 5 minutes in my case. After that, it gives the completely transfer-proof finish.

Pigmentation- This lip color is quite pigmented. I only need a single coat to cover my medium pigmented lips with opaque coverage.

Staying Power- This lip cream easily survives drinks (water, juice etc.) but it cannot survive meals. Istanbul is a light shade and it fades evenly (I meant to say fading happens not only from the center). Without meals, the color stays on 7+ hours in my case.

Fragrance- This lip color has a light fragrance of vanilla. The fragrance does not linger long after application but I enjoy the smell.

Experience- Before actually using this, I thought the shade would be too light for my skin. But thankfully the shade has coped up to my skin and gives me amazingly natural finish. This light pink shade would look natural pink for complexions like mine or lighter than mine. For deeper skin tones, it would look baby pink. The shade Istanbul is comparable to NYX’s another favorite NYX Creamy Round Tea Rose. I really like how this shade compliments my skin tone and gives me a bright and radiant look. I like to apply this shade for day looks but this can also be worn for evening looks with intense eyes. I feel the in-built applicator wand is quite useful but I use this wand to just deposit the color. I blend the pigment with fingers. This way, it does not settle into fine lines of my lips and becomes completely transfer-proof once it is dry. To avoid dry lips with this matte formula, I thoroughly exfoliate and moisturize my lips beforehand.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Istanbul is a cool neutral shade of pink with comfortable wear. The shade looks natural pink on my lips giving a fresh and bright look to my face. I have become a fan of this shade so I would definitely buy it again. I would recommend this shade as a neutral pink to someone with my complexion or lighter. This would be a neonish baby pink to deeper complexions than mine.
