NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick Tea Rose Review

by Sreeparna Ganguly

Winter is at its peak and moisture locking or moisture supplying skincare and makeup has become the need of the season. I generally use sheer lip glosses with tint during this time of the year. But, this year the trend of traditional bullet form lipsticks is back on track. So, I have invested in a few daily wear lipsticks from different brands. Today I am reviewing NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick, Tea Rose. This Tea Rose shade much raves about the product; it is actually one of the bestsellers from NYX. Let’s check out if it could impress me or not.

My Experience with NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick Tea Rose

Packaging- This lipstick comes in a cylindrical black plastic bullet with the color coded bottom. Its click shut mechanism and twist up form is quality wise satisfactory. It is a travel-friendly lipstick of standard size. We are getting 4gm of product which is also good quantity wise. The body of the lipstick cap has all the ingredients detailed in English and some other language which I could not make out.

Shade & Pigmentation- Tea Rose is a shade of light pink with cool undertones. The shade is pretty but I cannot say it would fare across skin tones. This shade is better suited to people with cool undertones. This shade will look good on light to medium Indian complexions. The cool undertone of this lipstick might clash with strong yellow undertones of dusky Indian complexions. This lipstick is quite pigmented. In one swipe the true color comes out. But it might not provide opaque coverage on pigmented lips. From my swatches you will notice, the original pigment of my upper lip is peeking through the lipstick.

Texture- This lipstick is true to its name in the texture department. It is actually an extremely creamy and moisturizing lip color. The creamy texture helps it to glide smoothly over the lips. I have medium pigmentation on my lips. So, I have to blend the lipstick with my finger to get even finish. Due to the moisturizing formula, the lipstick has a tendency to cling to the creases of the lips.

Fragrance- The fragrance of this lipstick is a blend of coconut candy and vanilla scent. The fragrance is a bit uncommon and it is not a favorite of mine. But, the smell does not linger long so I do not get annoyed.

Staying Power- This lipstick stays put on my lips with full pigment for 4-5 hours without drinks or meal. This lipstick transfers crazily and cannot survive even a light meal.

Experience- To be frank, I had lots of expectations from this lipstick as it comes from the reputed brand NYX and secondly, its cost can get me two Maybelline lipsticks with a similar texture. I am really sorry to declare this lipstick is quite an ordinary one for the price point. The shade of this lipstick is very pretty and girly. It can be worn in the daytime as well as night time. It can be used with intense smokey eyes. But, the shade is a not at all universal for Indian complexions. It only fares light to medium Indian complexion. To people with naturally pink lips, this will be an MLBB shade but for my lips, it is a shade of light pink. Its staying power is not that good; Maybelline’s cream finish lipsticks from Color Show range give a much better performance. I am a fan of matte lip colors so I generally blot off the moisture part from this lipstick and use it as a stain. This way the transferring problem becomes almost non-existent and staying power get enhanced too.

Overall Performance of NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick Tea Rose

Pros-

  1. Beautiful looking pale pink shade
  2. Looks good in light to medium complexions
  3. Perfect for daily wear or can be paired with smokey eyes
  4. Moisturizes lips and makes them look plumper with suppleness
  5. No color bleeding

Cons-

  1. Transfers crazily
  2. Pigment tends to accumulate in the creases of lips
  3. Staying power is not very good
  4. Colour completely fades after meals
  5. Shade might look ashy on warm wheatish-dusky Indian complexions

Would I Repurchase or Recommend?

NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick Tea Rose is a light pink that will suit light to medium Indian complexions. Though I like this beautiful feminine shade of pink, there are much cheaper options available for this shade range. So, I will not repurchase this extremely creamy lipstick. I would suggest this lipstick to someone who has cool undertones or warm undertones with less pigmented lips.

Rating-2.5/5

This shade is perfect for light to medium skin and skin tones with cooler undertones. We Indians generally have more yellow tones in our complexion. For us a shade deeper and more warmer pink would be perfect.
