My Experience with NYX Angel Food Cake Butter Gloss

I have mixed feelings regarding this product. Let me start with the good things about it. It has a fruity smell. It’s moisturizing. It’s not very sticky and gives a pinkish glossy finish. Basically, it isn’t really that pigmented. The pink color is almost transparent and it just accentuates the natural color of my lips. It is not suitable for darker or medium skin tones. On very fair skin tone and natural light pink lips, this gives a faint pink color. However, on darker pinkish brown lips, the color doesn’t show as such. However, this gloss can be applied over a matte lip color. For example, I put on the most drying matte nude lip color I had and put a layer of this over it and I really loved the combination. I am still experimenting with his product with other lip colors.

Overall Performance

This entire range of lip glosses isn’t really as pigmented as I would have liked. The intense butter gloss is a better option than this. It’s affordable, easily available and cruelty-free. The lip color lasts for a longer time if you don’t each much. It gets easily transferred to whatever your lips come in contact with. Kind of disappointing.

Would I recommend?

I would recommend this for very fair girls or those who like to use minimal makeup as this looks like a clear gloss rather than pink colored gloss most of the time. However, if you like experimenting with the different combination I would suggest you pair this with nude matte drying lip colors to get an amazing look. As for me I am not buying it again. I am giving it a 3 because the pigmentation is very low but the quality is amazing.
