Nykaa Nail Enamel Lilac Cupcake and Kiwi Kooler Review

by Deepsikha Majumdar

Nykaa Nail Enamel Lilac Cupcake: Nail paints are something that all of us have been putting on since we realized the importance of looking pretty!

And I’m sure that like me, all of you have the habit of picking up nail paints whenever one catches your eye. I usually experience this childish thrill in trying out the different colored nail paints whenever I get the chance to do so!

So the moment Nykaa launched its vast array of shades, I swooped in to get myself a few of these. And out of all the ones that I bought, today I’ll be reviewing the Nykaa Nail Enamels in the shade Lilac Cupcake and Kiwi Kooler.

My Experience with Nykaa Nail Enamel Lilac Cupcake and Kiwi Kooler

Lilac Cupcake

Appearance

True to Nykaa’s claim this pastel nail enamel shade actually does resemble the beautiful pale blue color of the icing that we often spot on cupcakes. This one is very bright and eye-catching shade. Once I put this one on, there was not a person who missed it on my fingers. And most of them gushed over how pretty and smooth it looked. While it is a wonderful shade, applying it is a bit of a problem. It has a sticky texture which is why if I do not apply it with quick strokes, it becomes thick and sloppy after every two strokes.

But it takes almost fifteen minutes to settle and dry. I had no idea about this the first time I applied it and hence didn’t wait more than 5 minutes to let it dry and was annoyed to find that it smudged when my finger came into contact with something else.

How long does it last?

The Lilac Cupcake nail enamel does not last more than one and a half weeks. In fact, it starts chipping by the end of the 3rd or the 4th day itself. So if you want to wear it for a longer period, you need to keep reapplying every two weeks.

Kiwi Kooler

Appearance

The Kiwi Kooler shade is a color that is a mix of light green and white. This one too is a pale bright, eye-catching shade that looks spectacular when contrasted with light colored outfits. The color is very autumn-like; this color sometimes looks white instead of green if it reflects too much light.

Just like the Lilac cupcake shade this one too has the same kind of texture which forced me to keep dipping the brush into the bottle after every two to three strokes. This one also needs at least 10 minutes to dry properly.

How long does it last?

This nail enamel started chipping off by the end of the fifth day for me. So I had to reapply it to make it last till the week after. So these nail enamels seem to last properly only for 4-5 days.

These two nail enamels; though very pretty in appearance, do not last as long as you would expect them to.

Pros
  1. Bright in color
  2. Eye-catching and smooth
  3. Highly pigmented
  4. Reasonably priced
  5. Travel-friendly
Cons
  1. Does not dry quickly
  2. Sticky texture
  3. Does not last long
Would I Recommend and Repurchase?

Yes, I would recommend these nail enamels by Nykaa because they are the best pastel nail polishes available at such a reasonable price. But I wouldn’t repurchase it.

Great review! I heard that their top coat is to be used for long stay and yes their longevity is not great. Do these suite dusky skin people?

Yes Dusky skinned people can definitely wear it. Just don’t apply too many coats. Keep it light. My sister has dusky skin. She uses it that way! :D
And thank you!
