Nithya likes to keep her personal life private and does not discuss too much about her family. She is the only child of her parents. Her father is from Calicut and her mother’s family is from Palakkad. Kozhikode, Kerala is her hometown.
In an interview, Nithya disclosed that she fell in love in her college days at the age of 18 but the relationship did not flourish. She is single as of now. In 2016 the word of her dating Kannada movie star Kichcha Sudeep broke out. It was said that Sudeep’s 15 year long married life came to an end due to her live-in relationship with Sudeep. Later the news of their break-up spread through Nithya never accepted these rumors to be true.
Nithya Menen is a Journalism graduate from Manipal School of Communication, Karnataka. She had ideology clashes with the reality of mass media and that made her partway from a career in journalism. She got admitted in a cinematography course in Film and Television Insititute of India (FTII), Pune. In one of her FTII entrance exams, Nithya signed for her first Telugu film with director B. V. Nandini Reddy.
Health & Fitness:
Nithya is not very much fitness conscious but she has faced weight issues in the past. She took power yoga training from Rajesh Babu. It was said that she got kickboxing training from Iskimos Kickboxing Academy, Hyderabad.
Career & Awards:
In 1998, Nithya started her film career as a child artist in the Indian English movie The Monkey Who Knew Too Much. She got a supporting role in 2006 Kannnada film 7 O’ Clock. In 2008 she starred in K. P. Kumaran’s Aakasha Gopuram opposite famous Malyalam star Mohanlal Vishwanathan. Though this film did not fare that well in the box office, her acting got lots of appraisal from critics. The next year she made her mark in a supporting role in superhit movie Josh and got her first Filmfare Awards South nomination for Best Actress in Supporting Role.
Ala Modalaindi(2011) by director Nandini Reddy was a huge success in Nithya’s career which brought her Nandi and Filmfare award in the Best Actress Category. In 2012, she played the female lead for Telugu movie Ishq opposite Nitin and this movie brought her CineMAA award for Best Actress (Jury). For her role in Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde movie in 2013, she won the Filmfare Award South in the Best Actress category. Her awesome acting as a physically challenged girl in Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju was praised and she was awarded Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress South. Mani Ratnam’s 2015 romantic movie O Kadhal Kanmani is one of the best performances by her. She is going to play the main character in the biopic of Tamilnadu chief minister Jayalalitha.
