My Experience with Maybelline Colorshow Lipstick 309 Caramel Custard

Packaging-

This lipstick comes in Maybelline’s standard black plastic bullet. Keeping accordance with this lipstick’s shiny finish, this lipstick bullet also has a shiny finish to it. The packaging is very sturdy and travel-friendly. The brand has provided the complete ingredient list so I must give this packaging distinction marks!

Texture & Finish-

The texture of this lip color is smooth and creamy. It glides on the lips easily; no tug or pulls needed. The finish is creamy but not sticky. It does not give very glossy kind of finish. It is very moisturizing. I do not need lip balm underneath.

Fragrance-

This lipstick has berry fragrance to it. This same fragrance is present in every shade of this Colorshow bullet form lipstick range. Berry fragrance is among my favorites so I am in love with the smell!

Shade & Pigmentation-

The shade Caramel Custard takes peach toned brown tint on my lips. For lips having more pigmentation than mine can use it as MLBB shade. The shade is very universal and wearable. It suits every complexion and undertone. Coming to the pigmentation part, this one’s color payoff is amazing. It shows the true color of my lips in a single swipe. The coverage is completely opaque so people with pigmented lips are going to love this shade.

Staying Power-

This lipstick’s staying power is about 4-5 hours on my lips (in this dry weather). Then the shade starts to fade evenly. The moisturizing part starts to lessen from 3+ hours. Since it is a cream finish lip color, it fades from the center part of the lips if you take drinks or meal in between. It is not transfer-proof as well. It does transfer but not crazily.

Experience-

Caramel Custard is such a lip color that goes with almost every look. I thought it will be an MLBB shade on my lips but it is certainly more on the brown side on my lips. So, I cannot use it with smokey eyes. But, this is a shade I mostly reach for when I need a light makeup look. This shade can be worn daytime as well as night time which is another plus point. I like to blot it off sometimes to avoid the annoying transferring problem. Even if the center part fades, just purse the lips and the color will be even again!

3. Opaque coverage & intense pigmentation
4. Keeps lips moisturized
5. Does not emphasize the fine lines of the lips
6. Staying power is good for the price

Cons-

1. Not transfer-proof
2. Does not survive meals

These two cons are present in every cream finish lip color whatever the price may be. So, it is on you if you consider them as cons.

Would I Repurchase or Recommend?

Yes, I would certainly repurchase this shade and recommend it to everyone. It is a universal shade. Those who are not into makeup would also love it. For deeper skin tones this one is going to be an affordable MLBB shade.
