Hello People!

Orange is the new black these days. I am not a person who can flaunt a black lipstick but I am trying my best to carry a true orange lipstick gracefully! Maybelline has recently launched a new range called Bright Mattes in their Color Show lipstick range. My today’s review is going to be about the Blazing Orange lip color from this range. I have two close weddings to attend in the next 4 months so I wanted some bold yet wearable lipsticks from the orange family. We all know lavish eatings are quite common in Indian weddings. Long staying matte finish lipsticks are saviors in these situations when you won’t get time for frequent touch-ups. Read on to know if Blazing Orange could fit into my criteria or not.

The Color Show Bright Mattes Lipsticks by Maybelline is tailor-made for the bright for everyone. These trendy New York inspired bright lip colors, suit every complexion with the help of the vibrant opti-bright pigments with deep undertones. My Experience with Maybelline Blazing Orange Colorshow Bright Mattes  Lipstick

Packaging- This lipstick comes in a matte black retractable bullet packaging with a matte black lid. The click shut mechanism of the lid closes the lid securely; it never opens up on its own. But the lipstick bullet has a tendency to break from the base so you will need to be easily handed with it at the time of application. The packaging is quite compact and travel-friendly.

Texture & Finish- The texture of this lipstick is smooth and creamy. It applies very easily to the lips and does not need hard rubbing. At the time of application, the finish is creamy matte. Within 15 minutes it settles into a comfortable matte finish. It does neither exaggerate the fine lines of the lips nor does it settle into the creases. It does not look good on chapped lips so you better moisturize and exfoliate lips properly.

Fragrance- This lip color has berry fragrance to it. The fragrance is mild enough and stays for about 1 hour. Berry is one of my favorite fragrance genres so I am enjoying it in my lip color.

Shade- M306 Blazing Orange- The shade Blazing Orange is a reddish orange. It is a bright shade with warm tones which looks great on Indian skin. There is boldness to the shade but not ‘neonish’ boldness. You can carry this shade with ease if you are friendly with bold pinks and reds. Such a shade can be worn for both daytime and night time.

Pigmentation- This lipstick is awesome in the color pay-off department. It shows true color on the first swipe and the full opacity comes in 2 swipes. For this lipstick, it is better to limit yourself in 2 swipes or it might get patchy due to its initial creaminess. If you have very pigmented lips and want to deepen the color further you should blot off the creamy part and do 1-2 more swipes.

Staying power- Maybelline has done a great job with this lipstick because the staying power is above 7 hours if it gets 45 undisturbed minutes at the beginning. Once the pigments settle down and the creamy part is off, the lipstick stays on and on. It survives light meals and drinks. After heavy meals, the center part fades to some extent but the colour still stays in the other areas. The color leaves a stubborn stain behind that does not fade even with heavy cream based makeup removers.

Experience- I need to confess at first that I did not expect the staying power to be 7+ hours. I am amazed! Now coming to the other aspects, the color is a wonderful shade of orange that I can carry without being conscious. The shade brightens up the whole look. I know such oranges are often the preferred for the summer looks but I am going to head for this in the winters as well. I like to pair this lipstick with subtle black winged liner and coral blush. This shade holds the capability to transform the tone of a simple makeup look to something vibrant and that is the reason I am loving it more and more!

Yes and yes! I would like to repurchase Colorshow Bright Mattes Blazing Orange because it is the ‘The’ orange I was looking for. I would recommend this lipstick to everyone who wants a bold yet wearable orange.
