MAC Dangerous Retro Matte Lipstick – This is an AMAZING Color !

by Navs Gupta

MAC Dangerous Retro Matte Lipstick: I am a lipstick junkie! People use eyeliners, foundations, and other makeup stuff. I, love collecting lipstick. I was introduced to MAC Lipsticks some 4 years back. Since then I have never looked back :) in summer of 2015, MAC introduced the Matte line. These include many new and re-launch of a few existing matte and retro matte lipsticks.

The retro matte lipsticks are the ultimate matte lipsticks you can ever get. They are super pigmented and have excellent color payoff. Initially introduced as a limited edition, these lipsticks became a rage with the Ruby Woo lipstick. I really loved that one and was really pumped up when they announced that these lipsticks will be a part of their permanent line. Naturally, I had to get my hands on them :p There are many new and exciting colors like MAC Instigator, Antique Velvet, Dangerous, Relentlessly Red and even MAC Royale (a blue!) and Stone (a gray!!).This here, will be a review of the MAC Dangerous lipstick .

My Experience with MAC Dangerous  Retro Matte Lipstick:

This retro matte lipstick from MAC comes in the standard MAC bullet. I love its matte packaging. Looks simple, recognizable and classy,The lipstick itself has an orangey red color. It is a medium dark orange, with strong red undertones. It looks redder on fairer skin tones and more orangey, as the skin tone becomes warmer. The color is really beautiful! It is a lovely muted neutral orange. Does not look neon…and that is a good thing because it brightens up the face, without making the teeth look yellow. The finish of the lipstick is very flat and opaque. It is really a matte, with not even an iota of shine.

MAC RETRO MATTE DANGEROUS REVIEW (4)

I like this quality of the retro matte formula. The colors are out there and fearlessly pigmented :) Definitely not for the weak hearted! The lipstick looks absolutely stunning. But, there is a lot of work that must go behind it. The retro matte formula is not at all creamy. It is very dry and tends to accentuate any lines or dryness of the lips. I strongly recommend you to exfoliate your lips very well if you are going to use this lipstick. I apply the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour Lip care Stick, around 10 minutes before applying this lipstick. The lipstick should be applied in an upward motion from the lip corner to the bow. This gives a fuller appearance to the lips.

MAC RETRO MATTE DANGEROUS REVIEW

I really really like the color. The staying power of the lipstick is 6-7 hours, without meals. If you want the lipstick to stay with meals, you must use a lip pencil base. That helps the lipstick to stay longer :) It would have been my perfect orange lip color. But the dryness and staying power leave more to be desired.

Overall Performance of MAC Dangerous Retro Matte Lipstick

Positives
  1. Beautiful neutral orange
  2. Trust me it looks beautiful even on darker toned beauties !
  3. Highly pigmented
  4. Opaque and flat matte finish
Negatives
  1. Formula is very drying
  2. Accentuates the lines on the lips
  3. Not very long stay without lip base
Would I repurchase and recommend?

I personally like this lipstick very much. But only because of its color and finish. If I find the same effect in any other, less drying lipstick, I will go for it. Buy it only for the color and finish. If you have dry lips, stay away! Are you a matte or glossy finish girl? Has any of you tried the Mac Retro Matte Dangerous, and had a better experience? Let me know!
