Lotus Professional PhytoRx Sunblock Mist SPF 50 PA+++ Review

by Shubhangi Singh

The onset of summer has already happened a good while ago and none these days needs to be informed about the value of sunscreen during the heat scorching season. So I thought of not leaving a chance to review a sunscreen this summer. The pick again happened to be a Lotus product a company I always swear upon like mentioned in my previous review of lotus scrub, so after a long assessment of various sunscreen I choose to give this very sunblock mist with the goodness of carrot oil and Vitamin E a try. The very key reason for me picking this product up was my requirement of high SPF this summer usually I apply sunscreen of SPF 30 to 40 but my increase outdoor works made me hit on SPF 50 this time. So let’s find out whether this beautiful yellow box of Lotus Professional PhytoRx Sunblock Mist SPF 50 PA+++ helps me sustain the faith in lotus products or loses it down.

Lotus Professional PhytoRx Sunblock Mist SPF 50 PA+++ Review 1

Skin type- Combination to oily

Product claims- The brand claims it to be an ultra light, anti-tan sunblock with PA+++ and SPF 50 that provides ‘broad spectrum’ UVA+ UVB protection that causes skin tanning, sunburn and premature signs of aging. Further, it claims it to be water and sweat proof product which gets absorbed quickly without leaving the skin to feel greasy or sticky.

My experience with Lotus Professional PhytoRx Sunblock Mist SPF 50 PA+++

The yellow color eye catchy bottle with a pump dispenser and transparent plastic cap attached to it does not work as attractively as its appearance happens to be. So the phrase ‘Not to judge a book by its cover’ goes apt for the product.

As said before I was looking for a sunscreen with high SPF and since I have been using Lotus sunscreen’s for more than a year I choose to stick with the brand and picked up this very lotus sunblock mist. The hopes were high as my previous sunscreen that was Lotus Safe sun 3-in-1 Matte look daily sunblock made me a fan. On the very first day when I used the product I got aware of its nature of causing whitish effect all over and I had to use a good lot of moisturizer before applying the product to balance the effect. In the above picture shown I had applied a great amount of moisturizer beforehand and that helped to remove the whitish effect.  But later when exposed to heat the high application of moisturizer causes more sweat making the skin look even worse. And here again, I discovered that the product is not entirely sweat proof.

I still thought of using the product further just to evaluate whether how it works with sun tanning and sunburn so I used to apply it on hours when my skin didn’t matter much or sometimes I balanced it with a powder puff. In that course I found the sunscreen doing well with the protection of sun tanning and sunburn fulfilling its claim. The other good thing about the product is it gets quickly absorbed and there’s no artificial fragrance used. But to use this very product you have to play a good balancing game or else the outcome comes out inadequate.

Overall Performance of Lotus Professional PhytoRx Sunblock Mist SPF 50 PA+++

Likes:

  • Gets absorbed quickly without getting sticky or greasy
  • Free from parabens, artificial fragrance & color.
  • Protects from skin tanning and sunburn
  • Affordable and one bottle lasts for long
  • Good packaging

Dislikes:

  • Makes face appear whitish creating white cast all over
  • Does not act as a mist

Would I recommend/ Repurchase?

Even after being a product which fulfills the criteria of protection from tanning and sunburn this product is not at all recommended because the major reason for people spending on products is to look naturally good first. No one wishes to get protection carrying an artificial like look on face when there are other products fulfilling both the requirements, available in the market. So until and unless you are just a skin protection enthusiast don’t go for spending on this product.
