The makeup world is all about glow right now with almost every makeup guru raving about so many highlighters and people have incorporated them as a mandatory part of their makeup regime. After all, who doesn’t love a glowy skin? I have been using powder highlighters for a long time so I decided to try out liquid highlighters instead. I decided to purchase the L’Oreal true match lumi liquid illuminator in the shade “golden door” as I felt that this would complement my medium skin tone perfectly. I have been loving this illuminator ever since the first day. Read below to know more about the product.

My Experience with L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator
The product comes in an inverted squeeze tube in rose gold color with a golden cap. I always prefer tube packaging above everything because you can control the exact amount of product coming out and they are the most travel-friendly. The shade name is mentioned on the packaging. At the back of the packaging, they have presented a diagrammatic representation of how the product can be used in several areas of the face and the effects that would show accordingly. This is a boon if you are a beginner at highlighting and even if you are a pro, it is always good to know the details and effects of a product and I believe L’Oreal has done a good job at providing valuable niceties.
The product has a thick texture but it is really smooth upon spreading and blends nicely. It gives a nice glow but it blends with the makeup nicely and doesn’t stand out in a discomfited manner. It is very light in fact I can’t feel anything after applying the product which is good. It did not accentuate any dry patches on my skin, however, if you have dry skin I’d recommend moisturizing your face properly prior to the application of the product.
The product comes in three shades. I chose the shade “Golden Dore” because of my illimitable desire for having a glowy, dewy makeup. This shade is perfect if you want a subtle sheen of gold along with your makeup. Although the product looks quite intense initially, upon spreading it dilutes in terms of the pigmentation and it looks subtle on the face. It is not super shiny which would make you glow like a goddess and I feel like this is a good thing because you never want your highlighter to be overpowering if you are using it on a daily basis. However, if you do want a really bright glow you can always layer it as the product is buildable. This shade, particularly, is perfect for Indian skin tone as it has a warm undertone and of course, gold looks pretty on every Indian beauty. I apply the product to the high points of my cheekbone, my nose, cupid’s bow and brow bone and I love how my skin looks after applying the product. The product has warm gold particles which manage to give you a beautiful glow with an added warmth. My skin gets instantly transformed after applying this product. This is perfect for every-day use but can also be used for special occasions. A win-win product.
The application might be an issue for some people. If you are a continual beauty blender or brush user like me, applying it might be difficult for you. I’ve tried applying the product with the help of a brush but it was wasteful as it tends to stick to the brush and the little amount that ends up on skin looks patchy. I apply this product to my fingers. Again, you have to use it light-handedly otherwise it will disappear. The best way to apply it is by using small dabbing or circular motions with fingers.
It can last upto a good 6-7 hours although the shimmer starts to disappear sooner. Of course, you can layer it as much as you like but I personally don’t like layering it up because it starts to look really fake. However, for a drugstore highlighter, its lasting power is pretty impressive.
