My Experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Eye Color Quartet Tanjore Rush

Packaging- This eye palette comes in a rose-gold square plastic container with a transparent lid. The lid has a click-shut mechanism to keep the shadows secure. Inside the container, there are 4 eyeshadows placed in 2 X 2 manner. The brand has provided a sponge-tip applicator which sits there below the eye color pans. Overall the packaging is very secure but still, it needs to be kept safe because of its plastic outer structure.

Shades, Pigmentation & Texture- There is no name or number given to the eyeshadows of this palette but for the sake of explaining I am numbering them as 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Shade-1. This is a bluish purple shade with a satiny finish. There is a subtle warmth in the shade so it complements the yellow undertones of Indian skin. The shade is quite pigmented and has good color payoff. But the formula is not that buttery smooth. You need to go over a few times to take out the desired amount of pigment. So, the sponge applicator is the best tool for this shade. Another way is to use a wet brush.

Shade-2. This is a khaki green shade with finely milled golden shimmers. This is a great shade to work with as the pigmentation is great as well as the texture is smooth. It’s a warm shade naturally perfect for yellow toned skin. The shade is on the darker side but it blends well. The shade shows some fallout problem if the excess product from the brush is not removed.

Shade-3. This one is my favorite shade from this palette. It’s a bronze-brown with golden shimmers. The shade is very pigmented just as the khaki shade and easy to blend. This is clearly a warm shade and fits into every makeup look. This one too has fallout issue.

Shade-4. This is the final shade from this palette and it’s the only lighter shade. The shade is a wonderful shimmery golden. It is a true yellowish golden shade; neither whitish nor bronzy. This is a universal shade of our Indian skin tone. It works great as a lid color, highlighter for the brow bone and inner corner. This shade also has some fallouts.

Fragrance-All the shadows are fragrance-free.

Staying Power- Each one of the shade is great in terms of staying power. They stay intact for at least 5 hours in the less humid autumn-winter weather. The stay time decreases to 2-3 hours in the sweaty weather because my base makeup starts to melt and the shadows melt along with it L.

Experience- First of all, each and every shade in this palette is quite pigmented and 3 shadows out of 4 are prone to fallout. All the shades are created keeping the Indian skin tone in mind. Naturally, every shade complements our skin tone and works across complexions. These shades are great for creating party looks but it is difficult to create gradient looks for everyday purpose with it. When I am in hurry, I use any one color all over the lid and emphasize on the eyeliner. When I am creating an elaborate eye look, I apply the golden shade as a lid shade and one of the other shade for the crease and outer corner. Since every shade is shimmery or satiny, all the looks become shimmery. It would have been great if there was at least one flesh-toned matte shade. The shades are good options to play with when you are a beginner (like me!) but it is not something a pro will give a high five!

Lakme 9 to 5 Eye Color Quartet Tanjore Rush Review 6

Pros-
  1. Pigmentation is good
  2. Contains all warm shades that suit Indian skin well
  3. Staying power is nice
  4. Decently priced
Cons-
  1. No Transition shade provided
  2. Difficult to create one complete look using only this palette
  3. Fallout issue is there
Would I Repurchase or Recommend?

Though the shades in the Lakme 9 to 5 Eye Color Quartet Tanjore Rush are quite pigmented and are great for Indian skin tones, the fallout problem is annoying. So, I am not going to buy this one again. I would recommend it to someone who is a newbie in eye makeup or someone who needs some glittery-festive eyeshadows.
