Hands are very crucial parts of our body that not only helps us to eat, write or do things with finesse but also works as a mirror of our personality. Naturally, we make it a point to keep our hands clean all the time using soaps, hand washes or alcohol-based sanitizers. Unlike our facial skin, the skin of our hands do not contain oil glands; that means hands cannot defy the effects of these drying cleansing agents by itself. From this point of dryness, the problem of rough and flaky hands begin. Persistent undernourishment may also cause hard scaly hand skin. Today I am sharing 13 quick and easy home remedies that can bring back the softness of your delicate hands. Stay tuned to know more!
Castor Oil & Vitamin E Oil Mask:
Castor Oil is an excellent skin nourisher and when it combines with Vitamin E Oil, the combination becomes a killer! Mix 2 tablespoon Castor Oil with the extract of 1 Vitamin E capsule and prepare this oil mask. Apply it 1-2 times a week in both your hands and wrap the hands in a plastic bag for 20 minutes. Wash off the excess oil and flaunt your soft hands!
Coffee & Glycerine Hand Exfoliator:
Glycerine is a natural humectant; it is able to capture moisture from the air. That is why it is the best ingredient for dehydrated rough hands. Coffee, on the other hand, acts as an exfoliant to clear off the layer of dead cells from your hand. Prepare a well-blended mixture of ½ tablespoon coffee and 1 tablespoon Vegetable Glycerine. Scrub your hands with it, wash off and pat dry. Do not forget to apply a moisturizer after it.
Tomato & Olive Oil Hand Soak:
This Tomato and Olive Oil hand soak are not in soft hands; this will also plump up your hand skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines. For this hand soak, you will need 750ml of plain Water, 2 tablespoon Tomato puree, and 2 tablespoon Olive Oil. Mix all the ingredients together to prepare your hand soak concoction and soak the hands for 10-12 minutes and follow up with the rest of your hand care routine. Your hands will get soft in no time!
Papaya & Milk Mask:
This home remedy is for those who have dry hands with sun tan and pigmentation. Crush a 2-inch piece of ripe Papaya and mix 2 tablespoons full-fat Milk with it. Apply this pack to your hands and wait for 15-20minutes for the pack to seep in. Get rid of the papaya pulp and excess milk with plain water.
Cocoa Hand Cream:
This homemade hand cream can easily compete with any budget-friendly store-bought hand cream that claims to provide soft hands. Mix 1.2 tablespoon Cocoa Powder with 2 Tablespoon Whipped Cream (heavy variant) and your hand cream will be ready. Massage your hands with it or use it as an overnight hand moisturizer. You can make it in excess and store in the refrigerator. It will stay good for 5-6 days.
Potato & Honey Hand Pack:
Potato and honey can be two efficient partners in your hand softening journey because the juicy nature of Potato will restore the hydration level while Honey will lock the moisture in your hands. Take 2 Teaspoon fresh Potato crush and mix it well with 1 teaspoon Honey to prepare this pack. Apply it to your hands for 5-6 minutes and then wash off. It is best to avoid the nail area as potato may stain your nails.
Rice Water Hand Soak:
Ever since we got in touch with Korean brands, the important role of Rice Water in skin care is being discussed over and over. This ingredient makes an outstanding moisturizing hand soak as well. For this 2 ingredient hand soak, you will need to soak ½ cup Rice in 500ml water for 6-7 hours. Soak your freshly washed hands in this concoction for 8-10 minutes and you will see an instant softening effect to your hands.
2-in-1 Scrub Mask with Oatmeal:
The combination of Oatmeal and Curd is not only good for damaged hair; it is also a great hand nourishing Scrub Mask. Prepare a thick mixture of 1 Tablespoon Curd with ½ tablespoon rolled Oats and let the oats get soaked for 2-3 minutes. Add a little bit of water to the thickened mixture and scrub your hands with it for a good 5 minutes. Now let the mixture stay there in your hands for another 7-8 minutes and then wash off. This Scrub-Mask is best for those with sensitive hand skin.
Carrot & Lemon Hand Mask:
This hand mask will supply a booster dose of Vitamins and minerals to your dull hand skin. To make this pack grind 1 ½ inch piece of Carrot with the zest from 1 small Lime. Make sure that there is at least 2-3 tablespoon of Carrot-Lemon paste after grinding. Spread this pack all over your hands in a thick layer and let it stay there for 10-15 minutes. Apply a thin layer of hand cream after rinsing off.
Onion & Ginger Hand Softener:
Onion and ginger are two kitchen ingredients that are rich in essential oils and minerals. Juices of these two ingredients can be used to prepare a water-based hand softening solution. Just mix equal amount of Onion and Ginger juice and massage your hands with it for about 5-6 minutes. Use this solution 3-4 times a week for optimal results.
Orange Peel & Aloe Vera Gel Scrub:
This one is yet another scrub for sensitive hand skin. Here Orange peel acts as an exfoliant; no other grainy substance is used. There are two ways to make this scrub; one is using fresh orange peel and the other one would be using the dried orange peel. However, in both the cases, we will mix 1 tablespoon Aloe Vera gel with ½ tablespoon small flakes of Orange Peel. Use this scrub to exfoliate your hand for 7-8 minutes.
Buttermilk Hand Moisturizer:
When we add sour curd to full-fat milk to make buttermilk the fat content of the milk starts to get accumulated and floats over the water content of the milk. We will use this fat part of Buttermilk as a hand moisturizer. It helps to supplement the natural moisture level of the hand skin and the hand becomes softer.
Salt & Oil Scrub:
This one is perhaps the simplest home remedy to soften the hands but it is quite an effective one for especially those who have extremely rough hands. Just grab a ½ teaspoon of any medium gritty Salt (Table salt, Epsom salt or anything) and mix it with 1 tablespoon of any thick Oil (Canola Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Sunflower Oil or even Vegetable Oil). Voila! Your hand scrub is ready! Now, exfoliate your hands thoroughly with it. Apply a thick layer of moisturizer and your hands will feel baby soft!
