Makeup Brushes: Now we’ve all heard about how important it is to use the right type of makeup products. But not much of attention has been given to makeup brushes. And as a makeup artist, I can tell you that using the right brushes can make a whole lot of difference. Also, it’s a more hygienic option. Unfortunately, though, very few people know about the different types of brushes available (and there are a lot of them) and their uses. And so, I’m going to take you through the different types of brushes and how you can use them.

Foundation Brush

A lot of us have used our fingers to blend our foundation. While using our hands does the job, a brush will give you a better finish. The tightly packed bristles of a foundation brush will give you an even finish and the whole process with a brush will be much quicker.

Stippling Brush

A stippling brush can be used to apply foundation, blush and even bronzer. With this brush, you’re supposed to dot the product on the face and then blend it out for a more natural, smooth, diffused look. You can also dampen the bristles before applying the product for a sheer finish.

Blush Brush

A blush brush works wonder. The fluffiness and slanted bristles work well to apply blush evenly. Not just that, it can even be used to apply loose powder all over the face. When I’m traveling and don’t want to carry too many brushes, I use it to apply my highlighter as well.

Eyebrow Brush

Off late, I’ve been filling and shaping my eyebrows even when I have to go for a casual outing. And so, the eyebrow brush is definitely one of my favorites.  PAC comes with a dual ended brow brush, one to apply the product and the other to brush out for a natural finish. It can be used with powders, creams, and pomades.

An eyeliner brush comes in two types- an angular one and a thin lining brush. Personally, I prefer the thin brush as it works better to create precise lines and go right to the lash line. This too can be used with a cream, gel or liquid liner.

Blender Brush

The blender brush is multipurpose. Ideally, it is used to blend out eyeshadows but it can also be used to apply shadow too. The brush can also be used to define the crease and make it look more defined. This brush makes blending very easy.

Lip Brush

Most of the people I know still use and prefer using the lipstick directly for the application. For me though, I prefer using a lip brush as it helps line and fills evenly. With a brush, you have more control which provides better precision in application. Also, if you want to mix shades, it’s easier with a brush.

Master Stroke Brushes

Now these brushes, I LOVE. This range of brushes is so multipurpose and the finish is beautiful. Made with fine, synthetic fibers, they can be used with powder, cream, and liquid products. The set comes in 10 different shapes and sizes and can be used for different requirements. Foundation, blush, contouring, highlighting…eyeshadow application, eyebrows…it works for all. This is one set that won’t disappoint.

Concealer Brush

The PAC concealer brush is again multipurpose. While it works perfectly for concealing larger areas, it can also be used for foundation and highlighting. I’ve even used it to apply my eyeshadow and I must say, it works pretty darn well!! Concealing should be done with a brush as the product needs to be applied in a very specific area, and a brush definitely makes it easier. Also, concealer needs to be patted onto the skin and not rubbed, which is difficult to do with your fingers.

Smudger Brush

For those who don’t know what a smudger brush is, you’ve most probably seen it on the other end of an eye pencil. It’s meant to soften hard lines around the eyes. This brush is also perfect to use for the crease as it fits in just right. For smokey eyes, this is a must have!!

If you’re looking for a flawless finish, its best to invest in a good set of brushes. The PAC range of brushes are really good and reasonable, and something that I’d recommend.

Now that you know about the types of brushes available and their uses, go ahead and work some magic with them!!
