Scrolling over Instagram and Pinterest, I have seen a lot of blonde hairstyles which is sometimes flooded over the internet. To know more, I dig into some research for these types of hair coloring done at salons and I discovered that having lighter and darker shades on your hair is done by a technique which the hair stylists have given names such as Balayage, Sombre, Ombre hair color ..etc.Now, these terms for hair coloring are similar but have some sought of difference- so what is exactly is Difference Between Balayage And Ombre. Ombre and Balayage are such technique or a style which differ from each other. How? Let’s find out. Also among the two, Balayage is my favorite.

Ombre Hair Color

Ombre comes from a French word ‘shadow’. Ombre is a transition of lighter shade from a darker shade.

Ombre looks beautiful when done correctly. A bad ombre looks so unprofessional and unmaintained. This is the style called Hombre and people don’t like it. An ombre look on hair is more noticeable and needs more maintenance than the Balayage technique. Ombre is kind of color blocking which leave no dark color on the bottom part of the hair. This is just a transition between dark and light colors. Two different colors of roots and ends are clearly visible.

Natural curls look beautiful on ombre hair.

Balayage Hair

Balayage comes from a French word which means ‘to sweep’. Now, Balayage is similar to ombre but there is a small difference which makes it different from ombre.

In Balayage technique, the color gets sweep through small sections of the hair one or two shades lighter or darker (depending on your preference and natural color of your hair) onto a foil or a board, which gives it a natural transition down into lighter colors.

There are some dark colored hair strands left on the bottom to give natural sun-kissed highlights throughout the hair and thus Balayage attempts to create a naturally highlighted hair by the sun. This technique needs less maintenance and looks more natural than the ombre one.

Beachy waves curly hair looks beautiful when one has  Balayage hair technique.
