Amazing Homemade Shampoo Recipes that you MUST Try!

Amazing Homemade Shampoo Recipes that you MUST Try! : Commercially brought Shampoos are often packed with chemicals that make your hair smooth and give it luster for some time but ultimately they end up damaging your hair. Apart from these even most of the organic shampoos available are not pH balanced and applying them changes the pH of your scalp which affects your hair growth and vitality. Each one of your body parts has different pH and your scalp is no different. At the right pH, your follicles become stronger and healthier. To overcome all these problems the easiest (as well as the cheapest ) solution is to make your own shampoo.

Amazing Homemade Shampoo Recipes that you MUST Try!

However, before you commit you must keep a few things in mind.

Your hair needs time to suit to homemade shampoo. Your scalp is packed with oil glands which are naturally equipped to produce oil, which is a good thing as it makes your hair healthier. The conventional store brought Shampoos to remove this oil with its lather. The oil glands respond to the shortage of oil by producing more oil. When you use a homemade shampoo, it doesn’t remove all the oil, giving your hair room to be nurtured naturally. So for the first few days of using these shampoos, you may feel that your hair is flatter than usual and you may have to shampoo more frequently, but with time you will see your hair adapting to it. So give it some time to adjust.

Your homemade shampoo may not lather as much as your store brought Shampoo. But that is because your homemade shampoo will contain no lathering agents.

The store brought Shampoo may smell stronger but that is only if you choose not to add fragrances to the shampoo you make. I personally would avoid adding any artificial chemicals.

So without further ado here are a few nourishing shampoos that you can make at home ;

Make Your Own DRY SHAMPOO

What is a Dry Shampoo? Dry shampoo, as the name says it, means something dry, used to cleanse your hair, without employing the use of water. Its working principle is just so simple. All it does is absorbs oil from your scalp and hair so that it looks freshly washed. Do not mistake it for being able to cleanse off dirt and grime from a long day’s work.

The spray types are usually the ones preferred when it comes to the matter of using dry shampoo. The common ingredients used in its manufacture are solvents, aerosol propellants, absorbing agents, conditioning agents and some mild fragrance.

This is used, not as a replacement to washing your hair, but, it just lengthens the time gap between your hair washes. Dry shampoos usually come in three forms, firstly, like a natural powder, secondly, an aerosol spray or thirdly, like a pump dispenser. Make sure you buy something that is a close match to your hair color since there have been some complaints regarding the white residue this leaves when used.

How to Use Dry Shampoo

One use of this dry shampoo is that it keeps your hair perfectly styled, free from a wash and some subsequent damage to its style. We shall now throw light on some of the facts this dry shampoo carries-

  • This dry shampoo is only to be used on dry hair, in fact, this works only on dry hair. You wouldn’t see much difference in your hair if it is wet and freshly washed.
  • Just like you spray your deodorants, make sure that when using an aerosol dry shampoo, you put a distance of at least 6 inches from your scalp. If you spray it a higher concentration, you will face a tough time trying it to separate from the rest of your hair.
  • On initial usage, you will see your hair getting white. Let the product sit for a few minutes, before styling. Also, comb your hair using your fingers for some time, rather than using a comb.
  • After application of this dry shampoo, add more if you see you missed any spots and brush through the hair to distribute it evenly.
  • If you feel you have applied too much of the product, then, put some lightweight serum to the spot and brush out the dry shampoo until it is completely absorbed.
  • Stop touching your hair frequently, since you will end up applying natural oils on your fingertips to the scalp, making your hair oily again.
  • Do not apply dry shampoo right at the top of your head. This will leave a dreaded white residue, failing to add volume to your hair. Instead, you can lift the top layer, and spray underneath at the root, so that the white residue is not so visible.

Depending on the brand name, you generally get a dry shampoo for $3 to $75 a bottle, but you should also know that they often contain many chemicals, aiding in the process of absorption. To minimize ill effects caused due to these dry shampoos, you can go for some natural means and prepare dry shampoo by yourself, right at home!! Here is the recipe.

Homemade Dry Shampoo Recipe

Base of the dry shampoo to be used-

Firstly, use the base of dry shampoo, one from arrowroot powder, or Ground-up oatmeal, or maybe one from a variety of other fine, absorptive powders. Organic cornstarch is the most preferred because it’s easily available.

Ingredients-

The primary ingredient to be used is half a cup of organic cornstarch, with an optional addition of 3-4 drops of essential oil for the scent, 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder (for people with darker hair) and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon (for people with red or auburn hair).

Directions-

Blend all the above ingredients and store the mixture in a container of your choice. Using a mason jar with holes poked in the lid is the best option for storage, else, a large, un-used salt shaker, or a recycled parmesan cheese container can also be used for storage.

Application-

Always apply this to the roots of the hair, by the use of a brush or a comb to make separate sections of hair. Then, shake the powder onto your scalp and gently massage it into the surrounding hair. Leave the application as it is for a time of two minutes to the minimum so that it absorbs all that oil from your hair. Finally, brush the dry shampoo through your hair so that no traces of it are left over.

After effects-

You will see that the usage of this recipe for your hair as a dry shampoo will eventually decrease the extra oil from your hair. However, you will have to wash your hair at least once a week, even though you employ the use of this shampoo. See to it that you follow all the instructions and facts as mentioned above!

For something that is simple and inexpensive, dry shampoo is very effective in cleansing your oily hair.

I hope you all have liked the article. Drop your comments in the comments box below.

How To Apply Lipstick 3

How To Apply Lipstick Like a Pro : Liquid lipsticks are a comparatively new thing in the market to the traditional form of stick lip colors. Not all of us have been able to master the art of applying liquid lipsticks flawlessly till now. Although liquid lipsticks give a lasting finish, super matte texture, and great coverage, they can be quite unforgiving to someone who is not accustomed to it. Seeing the doe-foot built-in applicator in liquid lipstick tubes, we often think their application process might be similar to lip glosses. But, in reality, the situation is the exact opposite of what we have considered. Applying liquid lipstick can certainly be super easy to someone if she knows the correct steps of application. Even the pros tend to make mistakes when it comes to liquid lip colors. Here we will be focusing on 9 common liquid lipstick mistakes that a majority of liquid lippy users make. We will also tell you some secret tips on How To Apply Lipstick!

# You are not Priming Up Your Lips

Liquid lipstick has a different texture than regular lipstick. They are more densely pigmented quick-drying formulations. Liquid lipsticks can exaggerate the fine lines of the lips or settle into creases. To prevent these and to get even finished lip priming is an absolute necessity. It is a good practice to apply a thick coat of any nourishing lip moisturizer few hours before applying the liquid lipstick. Then just before application, you need to blot off the excess. This intensive lip treatment would plump up the lips and you will get the best finish with your liquid lipstick.

# You are Applying Liquid Lipstick on Rough Lips

Our lips have a different texture than our skin. Lips do get dry and flaky quite easily. If you are putting your liquid lippy on that dead cell filled roughened lips then the even finish is not likely to be achieved. The smooth surface of lips help the liquid lipstick to distribute properly and the result will be stunning lips!

# You are not Considering Your Natural Lip Colour Before Buying a Liquid Lipstick

Liquid lipstick formulas are made to provide full color in a single coat. But, very few of us have been able to come out of the regular lipstick trick of putting multiple coats to get opacity and increased coverage. We Indians have naturally pigmented lips. It is best to choose liquid lip shades considering the natural tint of our lips. Lip shades lighter than 1-2 tones of our natural lip color have a tendency to look streaky and ashy. So, think well before buying a new liquid lippy ext time!

# You are Making Your Lip Base Greasy

The long-staying composition of liquid matte lip colors can be drying on our lips. It is a good habit to apply liquid lippy on a moisturized base. But, never forget to remove the excess moisture from your lips before putting your lipstick otherwise your lipstick would not set properly and give you an uncomfortable greasy and streaky finish.

# You are Retouching Too Much

Liquid lipsticks often get removed from the center parts of your lips after 4-5 hours or heavy meals. But unlike regular lip colors, they are not meant to be applied in multiple coats. Naturally, it becomes quite likely for your liquid lippy to get all crumbly and messy if you try to retouch it. It is okay to do 1-2 careful retouches. If you want a full reapplication you must start fresh by removing the previous coat and starting afresh.

# You are not Getting Used to with Lip Liners

The quick dry formula of liquid lipsticks makes the product set on the lips in seconds. It is almost impossible to trace the boundaries of the lips in so short an interval. It is best to take the help of a similarly toned lip liner to single out the area within which your liquid lipstick must stay.

# You are Trying to Give Shiny Finish to Your Matte Liquid Lipstick

One thing you need to understand; liquid lipsticks are the times you want absolute matte lips and the creamy lipsticks and lip glosses are of a shiny finish. The formula of stick form lippies have oil base so it permits the use of glosses on top but liquid lipsticks have a completely different formulation. They would get melted and messy if you try to glorify their finish by putting some gloss of lip balm on top. So, stop doing that from this moment on!

# You can’t Overcome the Urge to Purse Your Lips

Pursing of lips to spread the lip color is a trick that works for regular cream or oil base lipsticks and glosses but this is certainly a strict no-no for liquid lippies. Pursing of lips with half-settled on completely dry liquid lipstick might give you an uneven finish. To avoid this streakiness apply your lippy to both your upper and lower lip individually.

How To Apply Lipstick 1

# You are Trying to Mix Different Liquid Lipsticks on Your Lips

Sometimes we buy lip colors that do not look that flattering on our lips. We make the best of it by mixing it with some other color to change its tone. For a regular lippy you have the option to mix as many colors as you wish directly on your lips but in case of liquid lip colors color mixing on lips is not even an option. Whenever you put a new layer of some other color, you are thickening up the lipstick. More than one coat of liquid lippy gives dry and crumbly color on the lips and certainly uneven finish. So, stop right now!

DIY ALOE VERA YOUTH ELIXIR 4

Moisturizer is an inevitable part of our daily skin routine something that we can’t skip no matter what. Regardless of what beauty routine we follow what products we use what our skin type is we All start by applying our daily Moisturizer. So today I’m doing this DIY on How to Use Aloe Vera on Face to can make our daily moisturizer 1000 times more effective with infusing aloe vera in it.

DIY ALOE VERA YOUTH ELIXIR 4

Aloe Vera on Face Benefits

Aloe vera if described in one line is THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH, the miracle plant, the elixir of youth. Even the Egyptian queen, Cleopatra, and Nefertiti-considered as the goddess of beauty, used aloe vera to keep their beauty intact.

It is the only thing that can be absorbed through all seven layers of skin. It is absolutely loaded with goodness and reduces wrinkles, fine lines, minimizes scars, tightens skin, improves the texture, gives you that glow from within, increases your collagen production, improves elasticity, reduces acne and finishes them overtime, reduces dark circles, spots, pimple marks, reduces irrigations, has anti-inflammatory properties and the list is endless!

Not only this it contains 20 of the 22 amino acids, contains 20 minerals including magnesium, zinc, calcium, Vitamins A, B, C, E, folic acid, and 200 active ingredients! WOW! :) You have to be absolutely insane if you don’t try this one. (Okay I feel I am on a Sugar high right now, lol). You can never get soooooo much out of one thing! According to scientists with the Department of Dermatology of the Seoul National University Boramae Hospital in Seoul Korea, taking a small amount of Aloe Vera gel on a daily basis can significantly improve skin elasticity and reduce wrinkles.

Procedure :

There is one thing about Aloe vera it is no doubt expensive, but at the same time, it’s terribly easy to grow at home. It’s a plant of the cactus family and survives with minimum water so I would strongly recommend you to use the fresh Aloe vera instead of the bottled gel.

Take a piece of Aloe vera and cut/ break it into half and slice it.

Once u have sliced an aloe vera leaf into two halves you will see something like a jelly! You need to scrape away this jelly with your fingers or a spoon until it becomes all gooey and slimy.Once you get all the slime off, place on your palm of your hand and mix two-three drops of your daily moisturizer in it.

DIY ALOE VERA YOUTH ELIXIR 1

Go ahead and slather your face with it rubbing in a circular motion like you do with your moisturizer and you are done.

DIY ALOE VERA YOUTH ELIXIR 2

Now let the goodness seep into your skin and reap the benefits.

However, there is one tip that I would like to give – if you have oily skin you can totally skip out the moisturizer and just use Aloe Vera gel, but if you have dry skin you should probably go heavy on the moisturizer and add around 7-8 drops. For people who have the normal skin, they need to add only a very small amount of it.

Also, you should do this about half an hour before you step out of your house so that it settles really well and your skin looks as if you never really applied anything else except your moisturizer.

Aloe vera has no smell of its own (only a faint leafy smell) so you won’t smell bad after applying it.If you need to put on makeup on top of it you can do so easily, it will act as a shield between your skin and the harmful makeup so either way it’s a win-win situation. Now, this is something that I do absolutely daily and I hope you would too…start today! Believe me, your skin will thank you for it!

NOTE: When I say daily moisturizer, don’t mix it up with moisturizers with very heavy chemically active ingredients. If your moisturizer is like that, in the evening when you wash your face, apply this gel with any neutral simple face moisturizer.

10 Must haves in your Makeup Kit 5

Basic Makeup Kit for Beginners: Today’s time is all about speed and like any other market the cosmetic market to is flooded with new products by the day. One doesn’t know what to buy. I’m like yea look at that stuff that’s just amazing for your pores let’s get it…then again something new pops up -oh need to have this too. End result is a bag full of things that are not really *essentials* and then you decide to forgo buying the products which are really life savers!!! It’s difficult to choose between what to have and what to not – so here is to make things easy – 10 Makeup Essentials- The Ultimate Makeup Kit List which you definitely need to have, regardless of all the other paraphernalia in your makeup starter kit. Let’s build your basic makeup kit or makeup set!

Keep this in a beginners makeup kit:

#1 Primer

Some of you may not be used to using a primer and straight away go on to the foundation step but this is one great buy. If you have large open pores, loose skin or any other issues don’t forget your primer. It just does a pretty good job of covering those pores and creates a smooth layer for you to work on with your makeup and also helps it stay longer :)

#2 Foundation

A thing that every one of us must own at the moment. It’s not really something you need to make yourself look fair – NO! A great foundation is one which blends beautifully with your skin tone, not one which gives you a fair look!

It’s supposed to make your skin look even and flawless.Se the article written by Aakriti on how to choose your foundation ;)

Doesn’t matter which foundation you choose – a liquid one, a pan stick, or loose powder just go for one that suits you?

#3 Concealer

For all your facial flaws that even foundation couldn’t cover, there is concealer. Unlike foundation, concealer should be lighter than your skin tone. A yellow concealer suits most people but if you have acne or pimple marks then a green concealer would be the thing for you. Check out this detailed post on color correcting here!

#4 Mascara

For me, eyelashes are one of the most feminine things ever. The old trick of batting one’s eyelashes never goes out of trend. Doesn’t matter if you have a liner on or not just go with the no-makeup look with mascara. Always apply it horizontally instead of vertically to get heavier lashes!

# 5 Lip Balms

Chapped lips?? Very unattractive. If you can’t own too many lipsticks -don’t! But definitely, invest in a good chapstick. It just keeps your lips all hydrated and plump. You can even choose one with a hint of color if you like to give a little extra pink tone to your lips.

#6 Eyebrow Kit

Nothing gives your face, a stronger look than those arc brows; it just gives a lot of expression to your whole upper face. Eyebrow fillers are a must-have to get those strong-looking brows. If you can’t go for an eyebrow kit invest in a good Eyebrow pencil – these things work wonders.

#7  Eyeliner

Want to make those eyes pop open?? Go for eyeliner. If you aren’t well versed in eyeliner application then go for gel eyeliner which is just easier to apply and erase.

#8 Makeup Brushes

Remember no amount of mascara, liner or lipstick would look good if you have your foundation all over the place. You might think your fingers are enough but makeup brushed is a perfect blessing, great for getting a very clean And we’ll blend look. They are a must!

#9 Lipsticks

What is the first lipstick that you buy- always a pink one and it’s safer to go for a nice girly pink shade first which you can wear every day everywhere. For all the places where pink lipstick is too boring there is red lipstick. The next thing to own is red lipstick- the perfect red for exceptional places or to get your boring life all spiced up!

A little warm blush never did anyone any harm – it probably just did a lot of good. For a flushed and healthy glow just add a little pink to those cheeks and see your whole face brighten up with just a dash of blush
