Biotique Bio Watercress Conditioner Review

by Sreeparna Ganguly

My today’s review is about Biotique Bio Watercress Conditioner. Biotique is one of my favorite affordable skincare brands. I have used lots of products from them but I haven’t tried that many things from their hair care range. Extremely moisturizing hair products work a lot better for my hair. Ayurvedic or herbal hair care solutions often are volumizing so they often make my hair look unmanageable. A few months ago an aunt of mine gifted a handful of Biotique sample products knowing my love for this brand. This Watercress conditioner was one of those. Watercress as the main ingredient was enough to draw my attention since this ingredient is not that common. Let’s read on to know how this conditioner performs.

Details about Biotique Bio Watercress Fresh Nourishing Conditioner

What is it?

Biotique Bio Watercress Fresh Nourishing Conditioner is blended with pure Watercress and extracts of Pineapple, Tomato, Carrot, Aloe Vera, Cucumber, and Lemon. It promises to silken and strengthen hair for healthy-looking body and shine. It keeps color and perm in place. It protects hair from environmental dryness and damage.

Price- Rs.159 for 120ml

Shelf Life-36 months from the date of manufacturing

Sensitive Skin Alert? No
Natural/Vegan/Organic?

Says so but the fragrance does not seem herbal.

My Experience with Biotique Bio Watercress Fresh Nourishing Conditioner

Packaging- This conditioner comes in a cylindrical plastic bottle with green screw cap. Both the sample size and the full-size have similar packaging. The packaging is quite travel-friendly for my tiny bottle; it holds just 35ml product. Like any other Biotique product this one also has some claim and ingredients mentioned in the packaging. The bottle is translucent so it is easy to see how much product is left in the bottle.

Colour & Texture- This conditioner is light green in color and it has gel consistency. Most conditioners of my experience had cream or liquid texture so this gel conditioner is something new to me. The conditioner is very light and not too moisturizing. Though it is named as a ‘nourishing’ conditioner, it is a volumizing conditioner.

Fragrance- This conditioner has a unique perfume-like fragrance. The fragrance did not feel ayurvedic or herbal. It feels artificial to me. The fragrance takes care of the crappy smell of sweats from my hair and my hair smells fresh through the day.

Experience- This conditioner’s consistency says it is not meant for my extra frizzy and unruly hair. Its performance also indicates that way. It is a very lightweight conditioner. Its feel and look are very similar to aloe vera gel. I have to apply three times more product than my Dove intense Repair conditioner every time and that too cannot control my hair. I have to keep this product on my hair for 4-5 minutes as opposed to the directed 1 minute. But, after washing off my hair does not feel nourished. Now, this conditioner will prove to be good for someone who has oily and weigh-down hair. This conditioner, if used with any Biotique shampoo, is certain to give you volume but hair will feel rough and dry since most Biotique shampoos are of clarifying nature.

Overall Performance of Biotique Bio Watercress Fresh Nourishing Conditioner

Pros-
  1. Light-weight gel conditioner
  2. Smells good
  3. Provides volume
  4. Gets rid of foul odor from scalp and hair
  5. Best suited for oily hair
Cons-
  1. Not very moisturizing
  2. Does not smoothen or soften hair
  3. Makes dry hair very frizzy
  4. Does not seem completely herbal formulation
  5. Makes hair tangle-prone
Would I Repurchase or Recommend?

Biotique Bio Watercress Fresh Nourishing Conditioner is a volumizing conditioner that suits oily hair best. I have extremely dry and frizzy hair so this does not do anything well; it actually makes my hair more tangle-prone and frizzy. I am not going to buy its full size. For the price, there are better options available in the market to suggest so I am not going to suggest this to anyone as well!

I loved how the product looks, kinda jelly but don’t think this will suit my hair type. Great review as always sreeparna.

Thank you Smriti :love
It suits only oily and greasy hair. If you want a moisturizing conditioner then this might not be it :no :confused

Sriparna, your description is exactly how my hair feels after using this. Super tangle prone but shiny for sure. I am thinking of using this as a combination with another conditioner. What conditioner have you had the best experience with? Please let me know. This is extremely helpful!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience :)
My hair is dry and frizzy so most of the conditioners I tried till date are targeted to that type of hair. Sunsilk’s Perfect straight conditioner works for me through out the year. Dove’s Intense Repair variant and Ogx’s Moroccan oil conditioner also suit me.
For last few months I am trying out a new hair routine. I have replaced conditioners with leave in creams. This way my hair fall due to breakage has reduced a lot. Pantene’s oil in cream works best for me.

Wonderful, thank you! Try the Shea moisture range too, especially the shampoo, great for winters! Trying to go sulfate, paraben free these days.
