Japan’s long –breath diet is a natural solution for fighting obesity especially in teens or people who are just starting out their fit life. This is not exactly an exercise. It is only based on the fact that simple alteration and control in breathing can help us burn more than we could think of. But how does that happen?

Fat is made up of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. We inhale oxygen while breathing, which then helps in breaking down fat into simpler carbon dioxide and water molecules. The carbon dioxide is a waste product which is carried by the blood to the lungs for exhalation. More oxygen supply will lead to more of this process. This long breathing technique ensures sufficient oxygen supply into your system.

How did it start?

It was all started by Miki Ryosuke, an actor from Japan. He was struggling with back pain for some time and tried this breathing technique to get relief from his back pain. Soon he noticed that it also helped him lose a lot of weight.

Our normal calorie intake ranges from 2500 to 3000 daily. To lose any weight, we need to burn more than what we consume. When we normally breathe, we do spend some amount of energy but that is almost negligible in amount for the excess energy we need to burn.  But this breathing technique if done correctly can help burn those extra calories rapidly and you can see the results within the first month itself.

How to do it correctly?

Without much ado, let’s break down the steps of this Long-Breathe diet.

Before you start, get into a standing position and just relax. (Something we all need to do quite often)

Step1: Put one leg forward and the other one back, almost crossing them to squeeze your butt. Make your glutes tight.

Step2: Lift your arms from both sides, above your head, and inhale a long breath for 3 seconds.

Step 3: Throw your hands down aggressively, giving out a forceful exhalation straining all the muscles but just enough air to make it last for 7 seconds.

Each session is a total of 10 seconds. Doing it for 2 minutes, which sums up to 12 times long breathing exercise every day, is sufficient to get visible results and also it fits perfectly with your busy life. You can also combine it with yoga to amplify the effects.

So now you don’t need to splurge your hard earned money at the gym, suffer from muscle cramps or compromise with your favorite food as this special yet super easy health routine, does not require any strict diet or fixed time or a lot of sweating. It only requires the right technique and lastly your will.

  4. It boosts memory power because of high lethicin content which is a source of choline, one of the essential vitamins.
  5. Because it is rich in dietary fibers, it clears constipation and prevents other digestive problems.
  6. It is good for heart patients, diabetic patients, and people with high blood pressure or cholesterol because of the presence of minerals, Zn, potassium, Mg, Mn, and iron.

Disclaimer: If tastes bitter, do not have it. Probably the bottle gourd wasn’t a healthy one and neither is for you.   It is most effective when you have it on an empty stomach.

Although we have rarely seen cases where lemon juice did more damage than good, there’s no harm in being informed and having lemon juice in controlled amounts. What it really does is improves your skin texture over the time, removes blemishes, dark spots, enhances the natural complexion leaving it a youthful glow and suppleness. It works more like a moisturizing cream rather than a fairness cream which is fine for me as I am too proud of my dusky complexion.

Skin-Type

It is best for dry to normal skin. But my skin literally works like an oil production unit so I use only a small amount in the affected areas i.e the acne and spot prone areas.

How to use

Cleanse your skin with a face wash before applying. It is important to know, you don’t apply this cream like other fairness creams. Be a bit pinchfist with the amount you take or you’ll end up over moisturizing. Applying it twice a day is good enough for visible results.

I have seen a lot of reviews on this cream online. Some weren’t positive but don’t lose your heart.

First and foremost one needs to gulp the harsh truth that nothing works overnight.

Even a month isn’t sufficient in some cases depending on the severity. In my case, it took almost 3 months. I met a horrible break out last November after using makeup from a friend in a college function. The worst of my nightmares.

I desperately tried remedies as natural as possible since I didn’t want to use more chemicals and harm my skin. I drank lots of water, applied Neem extract, used other herbal creams, vitamin tablets etc. But they didn’t really do any magic to my ugly face. Patanjali Saundarya Swarn Kanta cream was a leap of faith that I took and I don’t regret. I started using it in March this year. My acne is completely gone and a major amount of dark spots removed. Only a little is left here and there which I believe would go away with more time. Experience :

Just by the feel and texture, I can say it is a mild shampoo. It has no sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) which is obvious for a herbal shampoo like this one. I generally use it after oiling my hair with coconut oil and keeping it for at least 4 hrs before the hair-wash. It lathers up just by a single application (I use a sachet amount). So I don’t feel the need to redo it. The fragrance is amazing. I have used other herbal shampoos but the smell is not as pleasant as this one so plus points for that. Though, it lasts only for a day. Talking about the much-emphasized claims about thicker and longer hair, my hair growth is just at a normal pace. So here’s where I did not see any magic. BUT BUT BUT…I agree that my hair-fall reduced to some extent. I am really happy about that. So, Miss Shikakai and Mr.Bhringamalakadi Tailam are doing a great job according to my opinion.

  4. Prevents hair-fall ( At least that’s what it did to me)

Would I repurchase and recommend?

Yes and yes. We all know that herbal products are safe but they take some time to act.I have used this shampoo for about a month now. But I would like to buy it again and see for at least 4-5 months to see if it really stands up to its claims and improves my hair texture. I would definitely recommend this shampoo to all men and women.

Swiss Tempelle Ever White Face Wash: Face wash is the most underrated beauty regimen of all time. Most people don’t care about which face wash they are using. Anyway, their job is just to clean right? For me, a good face wash is what makes all the difference. Something that is able to deep cleanse your pores and also not make you feel dry at the same time. Plus, if it’s also able to remove makeup easily. I am always trying out a different face wash every now and then to see what suits my skin the most. So last day when I went shopping, I noticed this Swiss Tempelle Ever White Face Wash. It is a Switzerland based company. It might be that they have newly launched their beauty products in India since I haven’t seen one before. So I got curious to try what it has to offer. Let’s see how it worked for me.

My Experience With Swiss Tempelle  Face Wash Ever White

Packaging-

Comes in a white tube with any other face wash which makes it easy to squeeze out the content.

Texture and Consistency –

It has a white foam like texture which feels creamy on dry skin but becomes soapy in presence of water. This brought me to the conclusion that it was going to dry out my skin as soaps tend to do that. It has tiny little beads which are good for gentle scrubbing. Other than this, the consistency is somewhat thick so you won’t end up squeezing out more than you desire. Less wastage.

Fragrance-

Not a big fan of the fragrance. Initially, it did smell nice like some perfume but after 2-3 times now it only smells like an empty plastic container to me. I wonder how a face wash made of so many natural ingredients could smell like this. But that’s just my opinion. You might actually like the smell.

Experience-

Talking of the brand claims, it did make my skin clearer, I wouldn’t say fairer or radiant. The face wash wasn’t too harsh on my skin contrary to my assumption as it contains Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, a derivative of Sodium lauryl Sulfate(SLS) which tends to rip off the natural oil layer of the skin making it dry. But it cleansed my face perfectly not drying it out completely. It was just the right amount. It maybe because my skin is too oily. However, I follow it up with a moisturizer. Also, it was inefficient in removing my make-up. So, to my opinion, its cleansing power is not that great. It is Paraben-free which is good as Paraben is toxic to the skin. But what’s the point in eliminating one toxic ingredient and including two? Notice that it has EDTA. It is a carcinogenic compound and is not supposed to be present in any beauty product.

Ps: Didn’t notice that while buying.

Sensitive skin alert:

As said earlier, it has SLS and EDTA, which might be a cause of irritation but I have been using this face wash daily for 2 weeks and I faced no irritation in spite of having sensitive skin.

#1: Gram Flour-Lemon scares away the demon

Ingredients:

Gram Flour, lemon juice, turmeric powder

Process & Application:

Take a tablespoon of gram flour, add a dash of turmeric powder and squeeze in some lemon juice and a tablespoon of honey. Make a paste of it. Apply it all over the tanned areas and wait until it’s dry. Then wash it off.

Lemon juice does the job of bleach but a much toned down natural version. Honey makes skin smooth and radiant. This can be the most effective method and also a popular one with our grannies. I have used it myself a dozen of times when I spent my holidays in sea beach. It worked!

Ingredients:

Cucumber, lemon juice

Ingredients:

Coffee, aloe vera

Process & Application:

Take one spoon full of coffee powder. You can also add milk powder 1/3 the amount for added benefits. Make a paste with Aloe Vera gel.

Apply on skin and gently massage in circular motion for 2-3 minutes and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then wash off.

Coffee is rich in caffeine, an ingredient that repairs the damage that harmful UV rays do to our skin on daily basis. It is also used to treat dark under eyes and puffiness. Coffee grains can exfoliate skin effectively. Aloe Vera moisturizes the skin bringing a natural glow.

All the above methods take approximately a week depending on the intensity of tan. We all have a unique skin type, so what works for the other, may not work for you.  Kapalbhati: A simple breathing exercise with astonishingly great effects on the body including weight loss.

Honestly, we wouldn’t have known much about it until our beloved funny Yogi guru Baba Ram Dev popularised it. It is much similar to the Japanese Breathing technique if you have checked our previous post.

But Kapalbhati is a constituent of Hath Yoga.

The word Kapalbhati is originated from Sanskrit. Breaking it down, we get ‘kapal’ signifying skull and ‘bhati’, which means shining. One might wonder why it is called skull shining. Kapalbhati pranayama is one of the methods of internal purification a.k.a Shatkarmas. The special breathing technique helps in removing blockages or rather purifying the air cavities in the cranial part of the brain. It is a constituent of Hatha Yoga.

Kapalbhati pranayama has numerous health benefits to enrich our lives with. Some of them are mentioned below.

Benefits:
  1. Enhanced blood circulation:

A proper blood circulation will ensure that each of the cells in our body is receiving enough oxygen. Proper blood circulation prevents any kind of heart diseases and removes any toxin from the blood.

  1. Reduces fat around the tummy region;

Belly pooch is sometimes annoying. Regular kapalbhati practice will give you are a leaner tummy.

  1. Strengthens abdominal muscles:

The constant movement of muscles in a repeated fashion, done by working the diaphragm to push all the air out, helps in strengthening the muscles in that region.

  1. Delays aging:

More blood supply to the cells, in turn, more oxygen meant replenishment of more cells as a result, delaying aging.

  1. Aids in relieving from constipation:

It helps in proper digestion of food.

Method:

Kapalbhati is really simple to do, let us dig into the technique to be followed.

Step1: Sit in Padmasana position. That is, sitting with legs folded and crossed, with each feet resting on the opposite leg’s thigh. The backbone should be erect yet relaxed. Hands will be resting on the knees with palms facing the knees.

In simple words, just attain a meditation posture.

Step 2: Inhale normally but during exhaling, apply some force using your abdominal muscles. When you have exhaled all the air, do not rush for the next breath. Be relaxed and breath in as normally as you can.

How many times to be done?

It can be done a minimum of 50 times in a set. If you think, 50 is too easy, increase the number of sets. You can do that gradually with coming days as you practice.  The more you do the better you get at it and better will be the results.

Note:
  1. Keep a gap of at least 2 hrs with your meal for this exercise.
  2. Do not break the posture in the middle of your practice. The right kind of breathing can be attained and controlled only with the perfect posture.
  3. Pregnant women or during menstruation, kapalbhati should be avoided.
What are the Perks of doing it?

Kapal Bhati is so easy that it can also be tried out by aged people or people who cannot indulge in a lot of physical activities due to certain health issues.

It does not require a lot of space or any kind of props or even time.

The only thing which may disappoint you…..

If you are looking for a fast method to lose weight, then this might not be the one you are looking for. Kapalbhati can be incorporated in your daily routine if you have long-term weight loss goals. Make it a habit, and it won’t seem like a workout.

Lastly, consistency is what will fetch you the results.
