Ingrown Hair Removal at Home: Hello, beauties!! Today, I am going to share with you all, something extraordinary and unknown to most of the people. Did you ever know that there are strands of hair that have curled down before they actually reached the outer skin? Such hair grows back into the skin, instead of rising up, above the layer of the epidermis. Such hair is called Ingrown hair, or razor bumps. Today we will discuss Ingrown Hair Removal.

Such kind of cases is mostly observed in the African American community of people, or among people who have curly hair. This ingrown hair appears raised, like a red bump, resembling a little pimple. Sometimes, there is even a chance of development of pus inside the bump. The common issues that have to be tackled with this include swelling, pain, redness, inflammation, and irritation in the area where it has been developed. Common areas of development of ingrown hairs are legs, beard area, underarms and bikini area.

Though seems to be a bit serious, this is not at all an issue of great concern, but definitely an irritating problem for people.

Here are some useful remedies for ingrown hair.

  1.  Use of common Salt

Common salt is a great exfoliating agent, helping in an increase of circulation, reducing swelling and promotes healing. Now what you can do with this is,

  1. Mix one and a half teaspoons of common salt in a cup of lukewarm water.
  2. Then, dip a small cotton ball in the solution and rub it gently over the affected skin.
  3. Leave it for a few minutes and clean with clear water, repeating the above steps twice a day, to get effective results.

Make sure that you do not prolong its use if your skin gets red or irritated.

  1. Sugar Scrub

Sugar serves as a skin scrub due to its coarse texture. It exfoliates skin, removes dead skin cells and helps outgrowth of the ingrown hair.

To prepare an effective scrub for it, take 1 cup of sugar, 10 drops of tea- tree oil, half- a cup of olive oil and ten drops of lavender oil.

  1. Firstly, mix one cup of white sugar with half-a-cup of extra-virgin olive oil. You can alternatively use jojoba oil instead of extra-virgin olive oil for this purpose.
  1. Then, stir 10 drops of tea tree oil and lavender oil into the mixture formed in step 1.
  2. Apply this on the affected area, scrubbing the area in circular motion.
  3. Then, rinse off with clear water, and repeat the steps once or twice a week for best results.

You need to make sure you don’t scrub your face with this every day, though can store the remaining scrub in an airtight container for future use since everyday scrub damages your skin.

  1. Use of Honey

We all are aware of the fact of what good honey does to our skin. It firstly moisturizes the skin, reduces swelling and inflammation of the skin. To use this as a remedy for ingrown hair, apply a layer of honey directly to the affected area and let that stay on for 10 minutes in the area. Post ten minutes, rinse off with cold water and repeat this remedy 2 to 3 times a day.

Make sure you use raw unprocessed honey than the processed one for effective results.

  1. Lemon Juice

This remedy should be used only if you don’t have sensitive skin. This is because lemon juice can cause a skin reaction in people having sensitive skin.

All you need to do is apply some lemon juice on the ingrown hair and leave it until it dries. Later, wash off of lemon applied area with lukewarm water.

  1. Cucumber

Cucumber has the highest concentration of water, up to 95%. This lets deal with redness, swelling, pain, skin inflammation, and irritation.

To make use of cucumber as a remedy, refrigerate the cucumber for half an hour and cut it into slices. Place these slices onto the affected area, and let them stay for 15 minutes. Then, wash off the area.

Else, make cucumber puree and add few drops of milk into it. Use a cotton swab to dip it into the mixture and apply it on the affected area. After letting it stay for 15 minutes, rinse off with lukewarm water.

This remedy is the simplest of all that can be done every day until ingrown hair subsidies.

  1. Potato Peel

Potato peels contain anti-oxidant properties, proving very effective in bringing out hair to the surface of the skin. Boiled potatoes are very effective in treating skin wounds, and peels, in treating ingrown hair.

All you have to do is simply peel a potato, and use the inner fleshy side of it, to cover the affected area. You may secure the peel using a band-aid and you need to leave it as it is for 24 hours. Then, you may pull off the band-aid which removes the peel along and washes it if you want. You can repeat the process until you observe decreasing symptoms of ingrown hair.

  1. Milk and Bread

Milk and bread are very effective in treating ingrown hair. It helps fight by loosening the hair and bringing it to the surface.

All you need to do is, soak a piece of bread in warm milk. Then, apply it over the affected area,   and secure it using a band-aid. Repeat this 2-3 times until you find at least one curl of hair coming out of the skin. Later, gently pull it out with a sterilized needle.

  1. Coffee

Coffee is also effective in fighting ingrown hair. To make use of coffee to aid you in this, add some coffee powder to lukewarm water and make a paste out of it. Employ it to the affected area, giving the area massage in circular motion. Leave it as it is for 10-15 minutes and later wash it off with lukewarm water.

  1. Warm Compress

Warm compress is nothing but making the skin softened, in an attempt to get the hair out of the skin.

To use this remedy, you need to first use a hot cloth, a cloth dipped in warm water. Then, place the cloth on the affected area, on the spot where there is an ingrown hair. Leave it as it is for 10 minutes or more. The hair may or may not appear being brought to the surface, but in case you are able to see the hair coming out, use a tweezer to pull it out. Repeat it several times a day, until you find the tip of the hair coming out of the skin.

  1. Garlic

Garlic is easily available and can be easily used as a remedy for ingrown hair. You have to use this ingredient, by first making a paste out of it. Apply this paste of crushed garlic over the affected area and put a band-aid on it. This prevents the mixture from falling down, as it does not stick to the skin. Leave it for 30-45 minutes and then wash off using mild soap and water. Repeat this process twice a day to get effective results.
