Pretty Nails

If there is one thing I love it's pretty nails.
And if I want to treat myself its got to be a nail varnish.
My favourite brands are Butter London & Essie, the colours I like are the pastels.
I prefer to do my own Mani's & Pedi's that way I can chose the best products that suit me and I like to keep my nails short.

Give yourself a professional manicure

you will need the following

  • Nail Polish Remover
  • Warm Water
  • Emery Board or Nail Filer
  • Mild Facial Cleanser or Moisturizing Soap
  • Towel
  • Nailbrush
  • A Good Base Coat
  • Lemon Juice or Olive Oil
  • Moisturizing Cream or Lotion
  • Nail Polish

  • Step 1 remove old varnish

Dip a cotton ball in the nail polish remover. Rub it on your nails for 5-8 seconds, whether you have nail polish or not. It will cleanse your nails and remove any substance, invisible to the naked eyes

Step 2 soak hands in warm water

Soak your hands in a bowl filled with warm water, for at least 7-10 minutes. Use moisturizing soap to wash your hands. If your hands are rough, you can use mild facial cleanser. Once completed, pat your hands with a soft and dry towel

    Step 3 cut your nails

Trim down your nails up to the length you desire. Try to keep them short or mid-length. But, if you are comfortable, long nails are also fine. Keep the length of the nails slightly longer than you want, because you need to file them to the wished length.

    .
    Step 4 file your nails

Using nail filer or emery boards, file your nails from the external corners to the tips. Instead of going back and forth, file them in one direction.

    Step 5 soak nails again

Take warm water in a bowl. Add 1-2 tbsp of olive oil or lemon juice to it. Immerse your hands in this solution for 8-10 minutes. You can make use of a nailbrush for cleaning the nails. It will soften your cuticles and hands

Step 6 massage nails & cuticles

Massage your cuticles by applying some cuticle cream. Also massage your hands in a circular motion with moisturizing cream or lotion. It will increase the circulation of blood.

Step 7 clip off any hang nail

Push back your cuticles gently, with the help of an orange stick. To prevent any sort of infection, don’t clip the cuticles. Cut any hang nails, using nail scissor. Remove excess cream with nail polish remover.

Step 8 apply a base coat

After cleaning and massaging, apply a clear base coat on every nail.

    Step 9 apply nail varnish

Choose the colour of nail polish. The best way is to use three strokes for applying the nail polish- one from the centre base to the tip and one on either side. When the previous coat gets absolutely dry, apply the second coat.

    Step 10 apply top coat

Apply an instant drying, clear top nail polish coat on every nail. It will help to keep the nail polish for a longer duration.
